My book is off to the printer.
Just a little longer, and my bilingual collection of columns and essential Dutch lingo, Nederlands is zooo makkelijk | Dutch is sooo easy, will be out there in the world.
A book, purposely written in both Dutch and English, so that you can try to read the Dutch part on the left page, with a little (or maybe a lot of) help from the English version on the right.
Or vice versa.
Isn’t that convenient?
You see? I had you in mind.
You, who may currently be learning Dutch as a second language (NT2) and who can relate to the tales straight from my night classes.
You, who might be in the midst of learning my language full of harde g’s online from somewhere outside of the Netherlands, because you dream of following your heart or loved one to Amsterdam to live, love, cycle and work here.
You, who once lived, loved and worked here and is feeling nostalgic for those days when you cycled through the rain along Amsterdam's canals and scolded tourists who got in your way. In het Nederlands, natuurlijk.
”Hé pannenkoek, opzij!” (Yo pancake, move!)
You, who may want to share with your relatives what it's like to learn the language and culture of your new homeland. So that you feel closer to them, even if far away.
Or you, born Dutch, who wonders how people from other societies, perhaps your own new neighbors, view your culture and lingo.
Just a few more weeks.
Sooo scary and sooo exciting at the same time.
I teach NT2 (Dutch as a second language) to internationals who came to Amsterdam for or with love and are here to stay. The conversations presented here were all held in Dutch. For privacy reasons the names are fictitious. Soon out: my bilingual book Nederlands is zooo makkelijk | Dutch is sooo easy. You can pre-order it in my webshop.
